You must be impotent. But if you really want some non-Slavonic linguistics picks, I'd recommend a couple of Booker prize winners. I admit prize winning books are for the most part esoteric tosh, but 'Vernon God Little' by DPC Pierre is a real treat, and 'The Line of Beauty' by Alan Hollinghurst is also worth the effort. Perhaps I wouldn't take the latter on holiday, but I'd definitely look in to 'Vernon God Little'.
