i'm right in thinking fly fishing needs a totally different set of kit, aren't I?

I've just got this rod and reel, so i think i'll stick with that. When you talk about 'spinning', that's just a spoon or something near the hook and a float is it? My problem is that i don't know the terminology and when i look at stuff in france it's really complicated to understand what i need to buy.

When I went fishing in the summer i had a cheap rod and i stuck some pear shaped weights at the end of the line and a float a bit higher and then i put some red wormy things on the hook and swung the whole lot into the sea.

What you're saying is skip the bait completely and just use flashy things? I've got some rubber sardine things with integrated hooks, will that do? And should i put several on one line?

As for the shirt, i'm a bit brassic at the moment and don't have a white one, so i've just selected the best one i have (it looks expensive, which is important in geneva).
