Ahahaha. I had a similar moment Monday.

It ought to be pre-charged - mine was.

The sim card goes in on the top edge, next to the headphone socket. You'll see a little hole on the top edge a couple of mm across. What you do is take the little metal dibber from the underside of one of the flaps of the black card wallet thing which holds together what little documentation you get, and push it into the little hole on the top edge - this will pop out a little plastic slide, which you insert your sim into, and then slide back in. There's a small diagram of this on the black card wallet thing.

Then you have to get iTunes installed on your computer, and connect the phone to the computer via the supplied USB cable.

It'll register, and do whatever it needs to do.

They really ought to do a Getting Started thing, the idiots.
