The question is..

do you want a local newspaper? Do you want the quality of Archant's titles to be reduced even further? With the demise of proper local journalism - and by that I mean enough journalists having the time to uncover real stories - will leave a society where no-one in public life is held publicly to account.

Our council bosses, our NHS bosses, our political leaders etc already get an easy ride. With a third of journalists being cut the paper will be increasingly filled with rehashed press releases and other submitted stories.

With journalists placing articles directly on the page the number of legal errors, typos, incomprehensible gibberish written by junior reports etc will increase.

We keep being told that citizen journalists are taking over. Well, where are they in Norwich? Other than Rick's sport site, where are the Norwich news blogs, where is the alternative reliable news source to Archant? There isn't one - it's a bulls**t excuse, as is using the credit crunch, by a company which is still making big profits.

If you care about a half decent regional news service, then you'll support a reduction in the number of job losses. The NUJ is obviously going to be trying to win local support - it's worth supporting.
