How can a Chairman possibly predict how well a managerial appointment goes?

You just can't possibly know. It's pure lottery. Alot of it is down to circumstance, injury, luck, general attitude of the players/fans etc etc. The board have supported pretty much every manager they've had at the club with as much money as they could give, yet for many reasons we've got to this stage. Football clubs can't be successful every season, it just isn't possible. We are looking up and saying "we should be doing better than Preston/Blackpool/Swansea" WHY? Because we have a big stadium full of booing fans? Look around at the teams surrounding us, all are similar size to us. Look in League One, Leicester (in the prem much longer than us) and Leeds. Forest went down. Man City went down. It's not as simple as you make out.

PLUS you are all talking with the massive benefit of hindsight.
