It is ver' ver' simple. You decide (in the cool, not in the white hot heat of competition which makes you pay far too much and regret it) what you will pay, MAX, for an item. You slot that into Bidnapper.

Bidnapper then waits till the last few seconds and starts bidding on your behalf. Non-electronic competition doesn't have a hope of responding in time, it's so late in the auction. So you have a really good chance of winning well within your limit. Whereas if you do a normal ebay bid, the competition knows you've outbid them and can fight back.
