I can just imagine it!

I've crewed on friends' yachts (been out to Islay a few times) and there seems to be a near-death experience every time. They just are bloody difficult to control even if you know what you're doing.

I've done a bit of dinghy sailing and even some small (25 footers) yacht sailing and live in total terror of not being able to put the brakes on

The only yacht experience I ever really enjoyed was hiring one in the Med which came complete with Captain Poppadopolous and a crew. The crew included a lissom lovely in a bikini to serve gin, and (for Mrs Git's benefit) a couple of hunky 21 year olds permanently stripped to the waist and heaving on some rope. It was brilliant fun. All I had to do was decide where I wanted to stop for lunch.
