FAO tech types...

...very busy so gonna post this damned quick, right, and then I'll have to pop back later so hope this makes a little bit of sense...

Moved in to new place and next year thinking about settng up own company and going it alone so will need decent comp type stuff at home to do this...

Facts, as I understand them, which I'm fairly weak on, it has to said, are as follows (and some questions too)..

1. I have Virgin Media broadband

2. Would need operate 2 comps with no loss of speed -laptop for me and PC for Mrs and son and me from time to time...so I'm guessing we'd need a router?

3. Wanna be wireless - currently we're not. Wireless thingy would be in downstairs front room, I guess, and office would be in upstars back room - is that a problem re signal and speed of comps?

4. Back up for work files (anything from a/w in progress for clients - can be rather big files - to boring .xls spreadsheets etc), what's the best and cheapest system to use?

5. Need to buy a decent laptop - sorry, no Macs - that has decent battery time, graphics, processing power, is light to lump about and has a big old screen. What's a good buy, cheapish and approx how much?

6. Anything else I need to worry/know about other than the dreaded credit crunchers?
