Actually, 2 very good points there.

I've never really considered the scientology David Icke thing before.
Yet I have been known to have a quiet chuckle at them.

Hmmm, that's made me stop and think that has.
I suppose (in serious short mode) its the 'newness' of the religion that rather screams "money/status scheme" and the longevity of the other major religions grants them a degree of credibility.
From that point on though its all down to the nub of religion, its Faith. Can you believe in something that can't be proved? (not even slightly a discussion for here).
The good people/bad people stuff is interesting too.

Their personalitly is what drives their actions, religion i suppose gives them the vehicle and opportunity both good and bad.
You can't however, condemn for the bad, without crediting for the good, who DO outweigh the bad.
