I was genuinely delighted to see you acting like a proper Englishman

It's not just the English, I have been delighted to discover. During the years we had au pairs, we would often have their parents to come and stay, and sometimes old au pairs come and visit (= have free accommodation in London!) and bring a brother or a boyfriend or a parent or two. And ALL the parents have been profoundly anti-German, without exception! (Well except for the one German.) That covers quite a selection of Dutch, Swedes and others
