so france are playing Italy as the last game - and you mean that if they've all drawn, and all besten Romania - then a really high-scoring draw would see them both through?

Guess it's a possibility. And one that you'd probably be worrying about if you were Dutch. But odds off all of that coming together are pretty slim, I'd have thought.

Agree that the rule is stupid though.
