Achebe is wonderful

I assume you've read 'Things Fall Apart' (if not, do). 'A Man of the People' is also marvellous.

Great Ugandan poet called Okot p'Bitek used to play international football for them, in the 1960s. I haven't read any of Rio Ferdinand's poetry but I'd imagine it's s**t.

Religion, love and death - I blame Guillaume Apollinaire. Although I'm sure it goes back further than that.
