There's a great permanent campsite thingy

at the top of the hill overlooking Florence; about 15 mins walk down the hill into the centre. It's steep, so takes about 4 hours to get back... At the bottom of the hill before you head into town are a few good bars and restaurants - far better than the expensive tourist traps with crap food in the centre.
