No, I didn't miss the politics lecture

I understand that MPs are elected to represent their constituents, and all the views that encompasses.

Opinion polls repeatedly indicate that the majority of people in the are not in favour of going deeper into political union in the EU. We live in a democracy, yet there hasn't actually been any viable choice (all 3 of the major parties, whatever they promised before an election have all integrated us ever more closely into the EU - the tories as much as labour).

You've basically admitted that you like the fact there's no referendum because you like the EU 'ideal' and you think we should integrate further. This unfortunately is not representative of what the majority think.

From an informed position I am of the opinion that the 'ideal' has a lot going for it but that the 'actuality' is rank-rotten. It was ten/fifteen years ago and it's worse now. Ploughing on with it because you like the 'idea' is idiotic. It needs to be fixed. Now. And then you need to persuade people with proper arguments that it is a good idea. If something is genuinely beneficial it should not be hard to sell.
