that we are ebing penalised because we keep getting knocked out when we play decent teams in knock-out stages suggests we AREN'T artificially low. At some point we have to start beating these teams in the knockout stages - then our ranking will (deservedly) go up. But we have to deliver at a majotr tournament not just promise and be 'unlucky'. If we deserve a higher ranking place we should be getting to at least tyhe semis of big tournaments. The FIFA rankings do ludicrously inflate the rankings of CONCACAF (N/C American) teams eg Mexico/USA, who thus boost their rankings by beating each other.
