Yes, it does...

But it's far, far easier for a small club to punch above its weight than for one which has seen better days to accept its current place in the world alongside these sides. Colchester, Scunny etc will have budgets and fan expectancy which matches what is feasible: mere survival at this level equals success, and with no pressure on you at all, much more might be possible.

But in our case, Champions just three years ago, one game from surviving in the Prem, but with all the financial problems which accompany relegation (especially if you don't immediately return)? You get into a downward spiral. Fans demand far more, players hark back to better days... and it all goes pear shaped.
