I think this might be a bit of a new thing too

did sort of the same with fozzy. Frankly I'd rather have a short-term knowing that if things are going well we can move on to a longer-term one, than the reverse, where we have traditionally ended up saddled with players a la Uncle Peter and it's pricey to keep 'em, pricey/difficult to lose 'em.
