I'd be surprised if he was offered a packet by Hearts, Dave

Hearts have been paying a number of players wages which, while not that astronomical, are far beyond what non-Old Firm clubs can normally afford: generally in the range of 8-12K a week, with the one exception of Craig Gordon (the best British goalkeeper by some distance) being on around 18K. I'm guessing Brellier was probably on a five figure wage - but Romanov treated him so abominably (the background to which I'll be writing about in a separate post) that I imagine Hearts, stupidly, wanted rid.

JB was always very likely to leave, seeing as he was messed around so much and continually dropped in favour of vastly inferior players - but I wouldn't worry too much about how much we've paid in order to gazump anyone else who was interested.
