your objective should be to 'force' your way into having an interview. explain that you're wanting to know whether you are going to be called to an interview and if the answer is no, ask why not. Tell her that you'd like to meet her for perhaps five minutes or so for her to explain the reasons for your rejection. Of course once you have a meeting planned you can then sell yourself properly, and at the least it will be a good contact for the future (cos of course you'll apply for any other jobs in this company).

It depends what sort of job it is, but this technique works if you know how to do it well.
