You can put Earnie's injury down squarely to the club's mismanagement: inevitable when you flog a dead horse. Dion limping off the other night (though nothing like as serious) is in the same category. But this is just hideously unlucky. Whisper it, but it also vindicates Worthington's attitude to the Cups, which is just utterly depressing. Football's supposed to be about glory and romance, not resting your best players in Cup games because something like this might happen...
