of course none of the 3 midfielders played on the left hand side

if you have 3 midfielders and two of them play to the sides you only have one left in the middle - the most important area of the pitch. That's an almost sure-fire way to get overrun in midfield. teams that play a 4-3-3 successfully - like Chelsea last season - do so because it switched to a 4-5-1 when the other team has the ball with the wide members of the front 3 dropping back into the midfield to cover the full backs (Duff, Cole and evenb Robben were excellent at this). The fact that Hucks doesn't is what makes our 4-3-3 so sh*t. You need at least 4 PROPER midfielders (unless you have 3 REALLY awesome ones) in the modern game, which is why you really ought to play Hucks up front. But then he drifts wide and doesn't score goals so...

This is the dilemma we have never solved and (unforyunately because I would LOVE there to be one)I've never heard a feasible solution
