Sony MP3 Question

I have a problem with my A1000.
I have a fair sized library of music but not huge, however it seems to take ages to load up the connect player and configure itself with the library on my laptop. software seems to have loaded okay but I am really stuggling to make it all work effectively. I actually have 2 as my wife has one as well. But I am seriously losing patience. Any advice would be great, sure I am doing something wrong.
