I haven't been about much recently, and I haven't attended a game since Palace at home so I'm not sure what the general view is at the moment. My hopes are for us to make a challenge for the play-offs after christmas with a good run, hopefully sparked by some decent signings. The following areas need to be addressed:
- The Defence - Individually and Collectively, I actually don't rate any of them. Shackell seems to get worse rather than better... he never learns from his mistakes! Doherty is fast becoming the biggest donkey ever to play for us in defence (he's in my top 3), that Burnley game confirmed to a lot of my friends he really is as bad as I had been saying, I didn't see the reaction on here to that game really but his sending off was one of the most embarrassing moments I can ever remember as a Norwich fan, which is saying something. Boyle lacked positional sense in the 2 games I saw him play, Drury hasn't been the same player we bought for 3 seasons and Colin is prone to the most baffling mistakes.
If Grant manages to sort this out without bringing anybody in then he's a genius but I feel we'll see a couple of new faces soon and hopefully the sale of Doherty.
- Away Form - 1 Win in 2006, this is a disgrace, this group of players have a lot to answer for, no matter how much blame is put on Worthy. They never learn away from home, they just repeat their mistakes time and time again.
Overall - Peter Grant has a huge job on his hands and I'll support him as long as he looks like he is making progress, I don't expect promotion this season, the squad is simply not capable of it but I'd like to think we'll be in the Premiership this time in 2 years time and making more of a fist of it than before.
