you could say that about anybody we bought - since the current team is doing fine.

Anybody we bought was surely only going to be a backup.

Since our current success is based on pace across the pitch up front presumably we figured we needed a pacy backup (McVeigh hardly qualifies and Henderson is, er, Henderson)
