whatever he asks for, we have to budget for n (presently 44 league) games * that amount so he effectively is budgeted at the same price as a regular contracted player. We'd only be able to see actual costs at the end of the campaign. So pay per play works for our finances at the end of the accounting period, but not during the planning stage.
Or that's how I've worked it out anyway. Plus would we have to pay usual overheads for him - presumably he doesn't count as self-employed?
