erm yes you do get them in Europe too

Tuesday was the national day here and on Monday night there all kind of celebrations, fireworks etc.

The police were called to over 700 different incidents. A girl was raped, a man left in a coma and numerous fights broke out.

Its all to do with human behaviour, when large groups of people gather and alcohol is involved. Its just more widely report in britain only by the british press just as here trouble is only reported in the swiss press.
