if a player steps on someone accidentally, it's not a red card.

Players who go to ground often get stepped on - it's a hazard of making a sliding tackle, for example. And of course it's not an automatic red for the player still standing.

In this case, intent is all. I don't think we can ever know for sure whether he meant it - I don't think he did, but that's just an opinion.

But what's for sure is that it's intent that matters.
