being singled out and targeted, as a group, because if its ethnicity; something that's developed horribly and quickly - it is not putting together a load of basically unrelated events concerning eg women. If the current level of violence against jews were being seen against black people as an undifferentiated group, or muslims, I rather doubt you'd be as sanguine as you appear to be; I have many jewish friends in london, and they're pretty scared - scared to show any sign of being jewish outside their homes or in their dress; scared to go to synagogues; scared about what might happen to them and their children (scared about their children encountering lovely progressive types at their universities); remarkably enough (they're all english) even some talking about the possibility of going to israel.
So should this concern us all just a little bit? Yes, I would have thought so.
