Government wants to see lots of houses built. Good luck with that when you've killed the housing market. Not going to happen.
Buy to let market completely gone because its not worth being a landlord any more. Great, people say, brings more properties back on the market - yes except nobody wants to or can afford to buy them because both the buy to let and domestic markets are completely dead. And now, to sell you either have to evict the tenants to ensure you can get vacant possession and take the risk you then find a buyer (which you won't) or as from Monday give 4 months notice. Not many people buying that level of property are going to put an offer in on a flat when you tell them they can't get it for 4 months.
This government does, at times, have some good intentions but they are so unbelievably lacking knowledge or understanding of how the real world operates it is painful, either that or they just don't care.
