The problem is that the solution isn't perfect, but does this mean it should be dismissed out of hand?
Rugby League has been a shining light in introducing technology to the game - The referee is in contact with his assistants and the video referee, if he is unsure he can place an incident "On Report" for review later using video evidence, and there is a Citing Comissioner who reviews the top-level games and and charges people who have gotten away with sneaky stuff missed by the referee. All of this is totally non-appliciable to the amateur game, but it has tidied up an extremely violent sport at the top level immeasurably.
