Speaking as a lawyer, no it's not

There was no legal basis for us to take part in (or permit) offensive strikes against Iran.

Since being provoked, Iran is now randomly attacking all of its neighbours without any obvious distinction between friend or foe (Ok, it's Iran and the Gulf, they're all foes, but they are even attacking countries that were trying to work with them).

Whether Iran poses more of a threat to British bases is moot (though hypothetical vs actual is a big distinction), it definitely poses more of a threat to the region and British allies.

The circumstances have changed, the legal basis has changed, the need for us to even be involved has changed.
