Agree, but thats also kind of my point, there is no genuine competitive reason

to do this, unless its to make it more likely for the teams that finish 3rd or 4th win them?

I suppose it will add a degree of excitement further down the table, but not sure that will last if the teams finishing 5th or below stop even getting to the final.
