World cups were much better watching as a kid

82 is the first WC I remember, I had posters and wall charts from football magazines. I didn't care about who England picked or what their formation was etc I was just transfixed on the games. I still remember the Bryan Robson goal against France as if it was yesterday but I actually can barely remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

86, I think I watched every game and distinctly remember the hattrick by Lineker and that goal by Maradona. Everything about the competition seemed truly amazing.

90, I was 17 so I'd found out I could watch the WC in the pub, so I did. Even watching it slightly worse for wear i loved every thing about that tournament until we lost to Germany. I even enjoyed watching Fleck play and Gunny being on the Scotland bench.

94, I didn't watch any of it for obvious reasons. At 21 I had better thing to do rather than watch a WC without England in it. I do however recall Diana Ross missing an open goal.
