I have a bit of a moan (not personally directed at anyone specifically)

It seems received opinion that if one still thinks it’ll be tough getting out of the relegation zone, it’s called bedwetting, yet it’s acceptable to constantly criticise and call into question the competence of our goalkeeper.

He is a bit erratic, and his style means he stands out. He should catch sometimes when he doesn’t, something which could be said about many keepers. His stats for this season also include the period under Manning, when we were shaky as a team with a defence that often left him exposed. His penalty saves gained us points, and there have been quite a few saves he had no right to make. All in all, he’s not blameless, but he’s not the disaster some think either.

Just as you can be supremely confident, as some are, that we will get out of the relegation zone (despite nearly two months of much improved results not achieving it yet), you can also think that it’s not necessary to have an escape goat.
