should Van Bommel really be punished? He *was* headbutted in the face, and sometimes you do react with a delay to being hurt. (Not saying I believe that in this case, but I do think it would be hard to be certain.)

Likewise with Figo - he *was* caught in the face by the guys arm. How do we know it didn't really hurt? (I actually thought I could see a swelling where he'd been hit straight afterwards.)
In that case, I don't think it was deliberate, and I'm not sure the guy therefore even deserved a yellow. And I bet people disagree on this. But I really don't see how you could punish Figo.

I think you could only use this stuff when it was absolutely blatant - Rivaldo last time, and - probably - Henry this time.
