Holding a bit of hope for the following maybe happening

American has some business skills and is not here for long
wont want to appear to be lagging behind events
Will want to look like he is listening and proactive
so they sack him today
and then all the interviews etc are about new plan and getting together behind it before he f**ks off back to the USA
