For me football in general now favours more homogenised skillsets with players favoured

who can press, counter-press, recycle possession, and stick to the tactical plan. Flair is stifled. Managers prefer players who follow pressing triggers and positional rules over those who take creative risks. That’s why the “classic 10” role (e.g., Matt Le Tissier, Paul Gascoigne) is now rare as those types of players would struggle in systems where defensive discipline and pressing are non-negotiable.
