It was much easier than that.

In the 90s UEA offered an interdisciplinary science program.
(4 year program BSc instead of the normal 3 years)

You needed no qualifications as long as you passed the interview tests which I clearly did.

I was one of the last people to receive full grants for all 4 years.
Yes they actually used to pay you to go to University!
One year spent in the US on an exchange program, then offered a full PhD ride at the US university on graduating UEA.
The rest is history.

Its amazing how many of my clueless haterz love to talk about stuff they have no clue about.
