In Wagners last season money was spent on experience to have a tilt at the playoffs.
Knapper on arrival slagged off the recruitment and wanted a younger squad which would obviously take more time to develop.
If JHT was told his job would be safe long term while carrying out Knappers vision then he has been sold a lie which has damaged his career
