Hiring using DEI has been going on for years anyway.

I went for a wholetime firefighter job in 1991 and failed the heart rate recovery test. Talking to a black guy I know from Ely I told him I'd failed and he said he'd failed another test. He then said they'd asked him to come back next week for another attempt but he wasn't going to bother. Mind you the height and strength requirement went years ago too.
