As it currently uses a US engine. They scuppered a deal Sweden would otherwise have won with Colombia, because they wanted to flog US jets to them. Maybe a Canadian order would be enough to justify exploring changing to the EJ200 engine?

The US risks seriously f**king over their own defence industry. You'd be mad to produce anything that included US/ITAR restricted components these days.
