I agree that rapid demographic change can be a challenge for specific local areas

However, the right also use immigration as an issue to disguise their policy failure in other areas, e.g. economic policy, and in particular to deflect the political debate away from other issues such as inequality.

The other issue is that we have a falling birth rate and aging popultion, like many rich countires. Good luck in dealing with that without immigration.
