Good interview with Trevor Birch in the Times today including this:
“From a league perspective, we like to think that it’s authentic football, people like to see players being able to celebrate a goal, they want to celebrate a goal. It’s refreshing to just watch the game, knowing whatever the decision is, if the linesman hasn’t put his flag up, it’s going to stand one way or another. I don’t think there has been, at the moment, universal acceptance that VAR is the panacea for all ills. We will keep it under review but, in terms of other issues to consider — there is cost, the logistics of it, the number of VAR operators you need, referees — there is all that aspect to it as well. Generally we don’t feel there is an overwhelming sense of clubs or supporters wanting VAR in the Championship.”
