I’ve no idea what “crusted” or “aged” port is but that’s just not true of vintage port

Port is one of the longest lived wines in the world and vintage port notoriously evolves in the bottle for decades. I have been drinking lots of 1963s this year, because I’ve been going to 60th birthday parties and 63 was a great year. It’s magnificent. The oldest port I’ve drunk was 1945 and that was magnificent too. It’s absurd to suggest that good port should be drunk young.
