well some of it might be

alot of European countries tax burden is higher than the UK and so the governments there can subsidized things like travel

While we in the UK (29th on the list ) are allowed to keep more of the money we earn/make to spend how we see fit personally

off course its not as simple as how i have mentioned but in a general way it might be some of the answer
