What I do care about is if we release him early from his notice period to allow him to join a rival.

Of course we may not do that. But if we do (as the rumours seem to be suggesting might happen) then I think that is really, really questionable. Indeed its arguably questionable that we are allowing him to oversee this transfer window if he's talking to rivals about other jobs.
