Some stattage for you.
In the final 20 years of the old Div 1, we had 8 different winners (despite this covering the period where Liverpool won the league over and over) and 18 different clubs that featured in the top 3 at least once. Including appearances from Derby, Leeds, Ipswich (wash my mouth out), QPR, Forest, Everton, WBA, Villa, Watford, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Sheff Wed. Basically, a lot of people went into the season thinking "maybe, why not".
Since the premier league began (30 years now, so a much longer period where you would expect to see more diversity) there have been only 7 different winners (and that includes Blackburn once in the very early days and Leicester once as the shock of the century) and just 13 different clubs in the top 3.
And if you look at the last 10 years, then it's 5 different winners and only 7 clubs that have featured in the Top 3.
Basically, unless you support one of the obvious suspects, or now the evil empire of Toon, what is the f**king point?
