Was chatting with someone who works with an old colleague

when my name was mentioned, the response was - "I remember him! The sweary one!"

Friends in the kid friendship circles (parents) - didn't think I ever swore...

I think swearing is far more commonplace than 25 years ago, and broadly more acceptable. But you really need to read a room and there's a huge difference between how swearing is delivered - if it's at someone , and aggressive, I'd have said that's pretty unacceptable.

Kind of remember my grandfather's take - "people only swear when they have nothing intelligent to say"

My language would appal him.
