There is no point

Not being nihilistic, but there is no way to sustainably compete at that level.

If you can find an owner to sling money against a wall for a period you can dine at the top table for a bit before they run out of cash, get bored or the swizz they're on gets rumbled.

There will always be a 'bigger' club (fans/financial opportunity) who could and should be doing better than us.

Football is broken, and the best we can hope for is around what we're doing. And not facing financial oblivion.

That isn't to say we couldn't have done better, with a different approach and a bit of luck. But in general we could (and maybe should) have been doing much worse.
