It doesn't even feel like squad rotation.
Even when players have good games and we keep them in we shuffle where they're playing.
There's players who seem naturally suited to being impact subs, and players who would benefit from a run of games in a settled position. Just not happening.
I'm not even convinced that Smith is doing it to try and find a magic formula - I reckon that he is viewing the tinkering itself as a tactic. Though I think we'd need either much better or worse players for that to be the case (if better, they could adapt, if worse, the unpredictability could give us an edge over better teams).
Just feels like we're needlessly making life harder for ourselves and denying the players the chance to play at their best.
On current form I'd go
Gunn
Max, Hanley, Gibson, mcCallum
Hayden, nunez
Sara, Dowell, Cantwell
Pukki
Bringing Onel on at the hour Mark, using McLean/Ramsey to replace whoever is tiring in midfield and, when fit, swapping Pukki for Sargent depending on the opposition and to keep them fresh.
We should not be tinkering with the defence.
